Poem by Helen Steiner Rice. There Are Blessings in Everything.

July 28, 2018

There Are Blessings in Everything.

Blessings come in many guises

That God alone in love devises,

And sickness which was dread so much

Can bring a very “healing touch” –

For often on the “wings of pain”

The peace was sought before in vain

Will come to us with “sweet surprise”

For God is merciful and wise –

And through long hours of tribulation

God gives us time for meditation,

And no sickness can be counted loss

That teaches us to ” bear our cross.”

How do you feel about this poem my friends? Does it sound believable or would you disagree with the poet? It makes me so sad, yet relieved too, because it gives hope… I think, person can never truly imagine blessing in illness, unless he/she experiences it first hand, which I hope would not happen to you, my dear reader, to my loved ones and (selfishly) to me, illness in nothing one would choose, of course. But if it happens, what an amazing gift is to be blessed with the strong belief and peaceful heart. Indeed, this poem is beautiful, so I wanted to share it with you. Hope you liked it. Love.

Toni.
